    School Information:
At ASU Preparatory Academy, our K–6 community of nearly 800 students has fully embraced this year’s theme, “Our Year in Orbit.” As a STEM-focused school, we integrate project-based learning (PBL) throughout the year, engaging students in authentic, hands-on experiences that bring space exploration to life.
Students have explored the solar system, studied life aboard the International Space Station, and investigated the future of space travel—including suborbital flight and what it means for humans on Earth and beyond. Through virtual field trips to Spaceport America, and immersive experiences such as Dreamscape, Star Lab and a VR trip to the ISS, students have been able to visualize and better understand life in space.
Our learning extends beyond the classroom. Students have also participated in the Tomatosphere Project, conducted experiments, taken field trips to deepen their understanding of STEM concepts. Parents and community members have also joined in on the fun, during student showcases and community events like Literacy Under the Stars. Across campus, student work is proudly displayed, transforming our school into an environment that reflects curiosity, innovation, and discovery.
We are also excited to host an ASU Prep amateur radio club, where students have already connected with people around the world. Today, we are excited to extend that connection beyond our planet.
Through Amateur Radio on the International Space Station, our students are inspired to dream big, ask meaningful questions, and see themselves as future scientists, engineers, and explorers.

    Students First Names & Questions:
    1. Noelle (kindergarten): How does your daily routine on the ISS help keep you healthy and safe in space?
    2. Zia (1st grade): How does living in space affect your senses - like how things smell, taste, or sound - and how do you adjust to that?
    3. Eliza (2nd Grade): Why is it important for scientists to do experiments that they can’t do on Earth?
    4. Jude (2nd grade): How do astronauts keep track of time on the ISS when you see many sunrises each day?
    5. Noah (3rd grade): What do you think humans need to learn or practice on the ISS before we can live on Mars?
    6. Lincoln (4th grade): When you look out the window of the space station, what do you look for first?
    7. Molly (5th grade): If your mission was unexpectedly extended by a month, what would be the hardest part?
    8. Connor (5th grade): What observation or experiment in space surprised you the most, and why was it unexpected?
    9. Cailena (6th grade): What view from space made you stop and think, “I’ll never forget this!”?
    10. Ananda (6th grade): When you look at Earth and see city lights, then look into dark space, how does that change the way you think about our planet and your place in the universe?
    11. Noelle (kindergarten): When everything floats, how do you stay organized and make sure nothing gets lost?
    12. Zia (1st grade): How does it feel to move your body without gravity, and what was the hardest thing to learn at first?
    13. Eliza (2nd Grade): Which space experiment do you think will make the biggest difference in everyday life on Earth, and how?
    14. Jude (2nd grade): How do you sleep without a bed, and how does sleeping in space affect your body?
    15. Noah (3rd grade): What special techniques help plants grow in space, and why is learning this important for future missions?
    16. Lincoln (4th grade): When you miss your family, what helps you feel connected even though you are far away?
    17. Molly (5th grade): Do you have a favorite constellation you can see from space, and does it look different than from Earth?
    18. Connor (5th grade): How are astronauts trained to handle medical emergencies in space, and how is it different than what doctors do on Earth?
    19. Cailena (6th grade): If humans were going to live on another planet someday, which planet do you think would be the best choice, and what challenges would people need to solve first?
    20. Ananda (6th grade): We hear the ISS may be decommissioned around 2030. Does this possible end date affect the type of research you do now, and what do you hope scientists learn before then?
